Welcome to Hugging Face ❤️ arXiv community event! In this event, we will craft demos of Open Source models and make them easily accessible to the community. Note that we will still welcome the submission if a cool open-source model is not released on arXiv.

In this sprint, we will.

• Build spaces to models with papers that have checkpoints already publicly available,
• not train a model from scratch for papers that do not have checkpoints publicly available,
• build cool apps on top of these models, mixing and matching them, go creative! 👨🏻‍🎤

To claim a paper:

1. Create an entry in our Discord forum (called making-demos🖼) on the paper. We will be there to help you out in the process! 🤗❤️

If a model’s checkpoint is on GitHub 👇🏼

1. Download the model from GitHub. Create a model repository on Hugging Face Hub.
2. To push model files to 🤗Hub:
   • You can use huggingface_hub Python library, use upload_folder to easily upload the model repository to Hub.
   • You can use UI to drag-and-drop your files.
3. Fill out the model card to be informative, you can use the information from paper & GitHub repository.

A model card is essentially a README.md file in the model repository and it consists of two sections, metadata and free text. (See them side by side)

The metadata section is defined with a yaml on top of model card and enables you to add tags to model about task you’re solving, library you used to train the model and license to enable better search for the model on 🤗Hub. Free text is the section below yaml metadata and it can include (but don’t feel limited to these!):

• a description about the model and datasets it was trained on,
• disclaimers about biases, limitations,
• training metrics,
• a small code snippet to use the model.
